damn
the marshalls trackdays stipulate drivers must have MSA licences even though its not a race. Tis daft, theres a lot of triumph drivers who wouldnt mind burning their cars around a track for the marshalls, but we need licences. Oh well, no ride for them.

Must have changed then johnfelstead. I had to get a certificate every year for mine, after another RAF race driver died from a heart attack at the wheel. I was not that old either.
It comes to us all Andy s37, even to you eventually.

Nothing's changed you're both talking about different licences.
Race licences have different medical requirements from non-Race licence, ie those for rallying, sprinting etc.
From the MSA website FAQ:
"Do I need a GP’s medical?
If you are applying for an International licence, and have not supplied a medical within the last 12 months
Or
If you are aged 45 or more and are applying for a Race, Kart (not Kart Endurance) or Truck licence, and have not supplied a medical within the last 12 months.
Or
If you are 18 or over, applying for a Race, Kart (not Kart Endurance) or Truck licence, and have never provided a medical report before.
You must have a medical examination and ask you doctor to fill in Section 3 of the application.
Do I need a Stress Related ECG?
If you are applying for an International licence and are aged 45 or over and have not supplied a Stress Related ECG within the last 24 months you will be required to supply a written report from a Specialist accredited in Cardiology in compliance with 2.10 of the Licence Notes or E.2.10 of the General Rules and Regulations."
Otherwise you don't. So for the non race licence for a trackday that was originally being discussed no need for a medical however old you are.
