How on earth do you get rid of........
............a thorn, or something like, lodged under the skin?
It's in my left forefinger tip. Been there about three weeks now
I dug for it when it went in, and TWICE since, but all I got was a wound.
Now it's under the skin, which is hard and white over it, with a definite lump, which hurts, and the centre feels sharp when you press on it, which, being a forefinger, you tend to do You can't SEE anything though.
Don't wanna be a wimp and go to doc, or owt like that, so what can I do?
Serious replies only please...........some hope, I know

Either be very brave and grit your teeth and dig it out. If you can feel a point it must be working its own way out. Or.........
Go down the plaster route, as above dig it wide open and get some magnesium sulphate (?) paste from the chemists and put that on the plaster before going to sleep. It does draw it out.

Had same recently when tieing back roses. See if you can face a quick slice open with Stanley knife, plenty of water washed on and magnifying glass. Wear gloves next time

If you spit on your finger it goes slightly transparent, and you can usually see the foreign body. I would try finding it with a safety pin and a good pair of nailclippers, if you don't get rid of the hard white (dead?) skin over the top it will never heal. Or file it with a foot file, but that would hurt big time over the top of a thorn!!!

Yeah, don't be a *****, lop the finger-tip off, problem solved!
Dunno if I would fancy slicing my finger delibrately with a stanley/razor, but if you do, disinfect it first (whack it in some boiling water or something)

***** As theyve said cut a cross into the finger with a razor blade and get some tweezers stuck in your finger its the best and quickest way, once its gone you'll feel loads better.

I'll see what this stuff does, then if it doesn't do owt, I'll attack it big-time with a scalpel
Might try freezing it first to cut out some of the bleeding, the blood makes it even harder to see the thorn

Needle, not a normal pin (safety pin OK)...less chance of infection! It would have to be feckin' deep for me to use a scalpel......and think I'd be off to the doctors before mutilating myself

run your finger under warm water for a few mins to make the skin soft then pierce a hole where it is and press on the point where its furthest in the skin and push up it should pop out. or you can put a hole in it and stick a plaster on
