Corby Town - The Patriotism Debate
Just seen an interview on the news tonight where several Corby residents openly stated that they would rather support any team in the world than support England. Interesting point of view given that:
a) These residents were all born in Scotland.
b) Living in England, you would expect a degree of loyalty to their host nation.
c) If these had been non-white or obviously foreign people (eg Kosovans) expressing similar views there would have been an absolute outcry by now on all fronts.
Using the Norman Tebbitt "cricket test" infamously applied to those of Asian extraction, the outcome of which was that if you could not support the English cricket team then you should be sent straight back to the land of your ethnic origins, would you not agree with me that those in Corby failing the test should be sent straight back to Scotland forthwith?
Would you also agree with me that those in Scotland who have assaulted English people in Scotland wearing/carrying the flag of St George should be tried under the race discrimination laws that exist today? Not sure how its good or brave for a large Scottish bloke to thump a 7 year old boy just because he was wearing an England shirt with pride.

Agree, England would be a far better place if we got rid of these darn sweaty-socks, send them all back in a horse cart!.........................

Ok you send the ones back to Scotland and we'll empty the Orkneys and Shetlands of all the English who have just about taken over up there. Every time there is a news article from the north it's always a bearded, wooly jumpered English tree hugger type.
Still I suppose they are better than the loud, fat, shaved head gentlemen you normally see whenever England play footie.
As per the other threads we can all make generalisations on race.
As a matter of interest would you get rid of all the Scottish army guys that are in Iraq/Afghanistan as well. Just seems strange that no Scots have started these type of threads. At least we don't burn your holiday homes.
You'll all be pleased to know that I think I've put enough reasoned/fair answers on these threads and will now desist. Have a good chat.
My last word - at least trolls such as DCI/PSL(same thing) do not live up here.

The Scots just can't help themselves - they have to jump in at the earliest opportunity to slag off their more successful neighbours.

Scotland's not a **** hole. It has far more going for it in terms of quality of life, space and services than anywhere I've lived in Southern England. I could buy a street in Elgin, where I used to live compared to what I paid for my mid-sized house in London, with its muggers and car thieves snapping my merc badge off my car ever other kin week.
My 3 years there were some of the best of my life.

As I said on another thread, it is a great shame to see real acrimony like this between different countries in the Union. I belive it was an enormous error to split the government of the Union the way it has been. The resulting inequalities are bound to inflame dislike and that is a shame and will do no good at all.

Reminds of the day I was in a pub on holiday surrounded by irishmen who were there soley to watch England lose. They didn't care who they were playing, just so long they lost. Sad.
