Changing a House Name ??
I am looking at buying a farm ... everything seems fine & it looks like i might be going ahead with it, its in need of a little work to bring it up to standard but with the size of the house & the amount of land i will be getting i dare say i could make it work
Only thing thats annoying me is the name of the farm ... to be quite honest its a bit girly.
So is there anyway that i can change it ???
TIA

you can in effect call it what you want, but for postal services, land registry, council tax etc, you need to inform them.
Bit like changing your name by deed poll...
people will still call you b y your old name for years, so expect the locals to insist on calling it Femfresh farm for years !!!
BTW what is the name??

very easy, i was going to rent an office once and asked the landlord if i could re-name the place in keeping with my biz - he said yes and i went ahead with the name change.....in the end the rental fell through but the name was still altered with the post office! all very simple.

Its easier if the property has a registered number, as assigning a name makes no difference as you'll still need to use the number.
However, its if just a name, pick a new name, check with Royal Mail that it doesn't conflict with any around the area, then speak to the local planning authority who should be able to send you a form to fill in.
If they agree to it, job done and they'll notify everyone who needs to know.

Do you actually know anything about farming though? I would have thought in a month's time the name will be the least of your worries!
this is assuming it is a working farm of course, and not some *******ised city slickers retreat....
