Default SKY HD - installation postponed

Now there's a surprise

Apparently they're having problems with suppliers, so my installation has been put back from the 23rd to the 29th.

They are, however, going to credit my account with pant-wettingly exciting sum of £20 for the inconvenience

Bunch of tawts

I got bored of waiting for their Octo LNBs about a year ago and bought my own when we added the third Sky+ box. Offered the Sky engineer a cup of tea and he was happy to swap the LNB over and align it while he was adding the extra co-axial cables up there.

I'd advised everyone to do what I did, however and run the co-axial cables yourself, through the house: the Sky engineers will simply take the path of least resistance and string them round the outside of your house. You might end up with more signal loss than the LNB can cope with and the outside of your house looking like a circuit board!

PS - for anyone who's been struggling for ages trying to speak to a 'technician' at Sky to recommend an Octo LNB for fear of buying one that's incompatible, the Televes ones from CPC work and fit the Sky dish perfectly.

Said it was being rushed out, although some people have got what they wanted and seemed impressed with it all. Knew it'd be a disaster

Got mine this morning I was one of the 1st 20 in the country to get it apparently.

Your not missing too much at the moment anyway, it will be good when everything gets up to speed Picture quality is good but its not the 'best thing since sliced bread' that some magazines and shows would like you to believe!!!

Mine works fine! As Rb5 says though it is not as HUGE step forward as I thought it would have been. I think the biggest increase in quality has been through ditching the Amstrad SKY+ box and getting a digital HDMI connection!

Dj - its not a telly problem, its a HYPE problem. Telly's a tidy 50" Sony K something or other. STILL get faint contouring and white clipping as per SD - but I'm not saying its the box/format just yet...

Chip make it Rioja and pop over for some true HD res movies - waching Sideways tonight

Even if your a wine taster Id say its a pretty cr@p film, one good scene in it and that wasnt even that funny as I dont recall what it was, one of the few films I wish I never watched.

Ohh is it meant to be funny [didnt quite get round to seeing it]? Hate films that try to be funny and dont have any Rioja! Leave the comdey to Vic & Bob not Ben Stiller!!!
