Echo and the Bunnymen had their own sound for me but vocally McCulloch does sound a wee bit like both, he still sounds good today.

Not really; I know what you mean but Id thought it was down to production rather than 'sound'. Ive tried (Im still trying) with The Editors, but Id sooner lsiten to Kasabian/The Killers/The Arctic Monkeys and a little bit of The Zutons.....
