Default Can you weld die cast?

I think its die cast anyway...its off a nail gun that kind of broke when I was playing tin can alley in the cellar. The replacement is $90 from the states, but the nailer only cost me 60 quid, but it seems a shame to junk it. maybe TIG & an ali rod?

I'll get a pic tommorrow...brazing means lots of heat, and it might **** the seals.

its a gas powered nailgun similar to a paslode, there is an exploded pic here, so I'd rather not strip it, as I dont fancy losing my hand if it goes wrong

Bit No 4, but its not so clear..looks more like an L

its the vertical cylinder in the middle of the pic, the lugs that hold the nail-rail assembly snapped off.

if you put alot of weld/braze heat in to that cylinder it will lose it's shape.
are the lug the same end as the seals

lugs are at the bottom end... I might give the chemical metal a whirl, and the retap for the bits that fix to it.

Get someone with a stick welder and some cast rods to do it. Heat up the item before welding.
