Monkey ITV4 6pm tonight
Come on then who remember's this from the past ?
Monkey
Tripitaka and Monkey arrive at a village under regular attack from greedy monster Pigsy - only to find they must then cross the Mighty River of Flowing Sands and get to grips with a man-eating creature called Sandy. Cult adventure, starring Masoaki Sakai, Toshiyuki Nishida, Shiro Kishibe and Masako Natsume.
It was the first episode last week and I missed it.... I'm going to sit down and see if it's like I remember from what must be 25 years ago
Some of the guys in work were talking about it, apparantly they have made a new show now and 1 in 3 of the population are watching it ( I can't remember if it is from China or Japan ) that's how long ago it was

Born from an egg on a mountain top,
The punkiest Monkey that ever popped,
He knew every magic trick under the sun,
To tease the gods
And everyone can have some fun.
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic ooh
What a cocky, saucey Monkey this one is.
All the Gods were angry and they punished him.
Until he was saved by a kindly priest,
And that was the start of their pilgrimage quest.
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic ooh!

I remeber monkey magic from when I was little, I never knew what the hell was going on exactly.
I do remember getting very frustrated by the fact that monkey couldnt seem to get the stupid gold ring off his head that left him powerless to the girl monk.
Also the fact that when he would fight a group of people, they would always wait till he was facing them (they would never kick the **** outa him whilst he had his back to them).
The blowy thing with the fingers to call his cloud was always popular in the playground, prettending to fly around on a cloud.

What about when Tripitaka whispered prayers into her 2 forefingers. Monkey's head band then tightened causing him to yell "aggghhh da-da-da-da-da-da-d-d-d-d-d-d-d...!
Plus Monkey pulling hairs out of his chest, blowing into them, which caused multiple clones of himself to appear.
He also turned into a fly somethimes.

Great series and fond memories of watching that as a kid before having my tea. Starnge the things you remember as a kid, also remember Harold Lloyd was always on BBC2 at 6pm which was the other thing I watched religously as kid (apart from Battle of the Planets and the Muppets of course )
