Default Hotels in Dublin

Hello

I am going to Dublin at the end of the month with my wife and we are looking at hotels for a couple of nights. Has anyone got any recommendations of places that are nice but not too expensive in the centre of Dublin ? Seen some on lastminute at around 150 quid for 2 nights that seem to have good ratings but I am not sure.....

Cheers

Dave

When I've worked in Dublin I've generally been at the Days Hotel in Rathmines. It depends on what you call "Central", but google for appropriate words and you'll find it.

Check out location maps to see if it is close enough to the centre for you.

I'm guessing, but 2 nights should be under £150.

Misses is going to Dublin for 3 nights on a friday saturday and sunday in August (peark season) flights included staying at the Blooms hotel (which looks good and in the centre) all for £347 for 2 people. so £175pp for 3 nights isnt bad at all IMO

blooms is grand. Right beside temple bar area in total middle city centre and has its own nightclub too. So assuming free in as residents. Rathmines bit further out. 20 minute walk. Ask me where you've lined up and i'll tell you.

Id prefer to stay a little out of Templebar myself. If you dont want town but 20 mins from the Stillorgan Parks hotel is very nice. Few nice hotels in Donnybrook / ballsbridge aswell which town area to. Camden court hotel camden street.

Try 'The Conrad' - right on Stephens Green which is basically the middle of Dublin. Five star. Usually £300.00 pppn, but they do weekend deals in quieter times. Last time I stayed there I had an all night drinking session with Westlife and Busted. (complete bunch of w4nkers if you ask me )

you could sit at a differnt table, but when someone else is supplying an unending run of expensive wine (400 quid a bottle stuff ) it is hard to walk away and drink the ****e you can afford

There's a 6 Nation's Rugby match on, on Sunday 26th. Dublin will be adopted as home by lots of Welsh people from Friday 24th until Monday 27th.

Your welcome to come along if you can sing a bit mind.

No chance getting booked in during the 6 nations. Every room in a 40 mile radius will be bunged

camden court hotel on camden road is a good choice, nice steady walk from grafton street area but a lot of original pubs with some good live music on camden street,we stay there several times a year

remember they have banned hen nights because of the bird flu scare.

Hi

We are flying there on Mon 27th Feb for 2 nights so luckily will miss the rugger buggers.

One place the wife likes the look of is the Brooks Hotel in Drury street.

My wife and I stayed in Chief O'Neills in 2001 - it was newly refurbed then and quite trendy.

That is quite a nice place.

Camden Court is OK too.

Jurys Towers is or certainly was nice aswell - keep clear of the jurys inns!

I'd also advise not staying in temple bar.

Also stayed in the Camden court and was happy with it.

15 min(ish) walk from temple bar or a few stops on the tram.

Try one called St Stephens on the Green (or something like that) I've stayed there and it's fairly central without being smack in the middle. Really nice hotel, lovely bar and the rooms are great. Stayed there and really enjoyed it.

It can be.

Isn't so bad now, and there's usually quite a police/garda presence there.
Basically temple bar is full of **** heads.
Stag do's, hen parties and the likes.

Normally stay at the parliament if on business - not too pricey, hotel is OK, and only round the corner from Temple bar.

Don't stay at Browns in Lower Gardiner Street - we did last week, and while it isn't a hell-hole, i don't think it deserves it's 3-stars.

Stephens green is alot nicer with good pubs along graftton street and still close enough to Templebar if you like.

If you fancy a laugh, stay at the Clontarf Court hotel - it's right by the waterfront. It's the oddest hotel I've ever stayed in but actually very charming (well, the bar is). http://www.clontarf-court.com/
