HOW COME POLICE CAN DRIVE WTHOUT SEAT BELT????
Personally I never set off without one on and I dont understand anyone who doesnt wear one. However I know plenty of people who dont and have been pulled over and fined which serves them right.I always look at the police when they are in their cars or vans to see if they do and I reckon nearly half of them dont PUT IT ON and it gets right on my ****.Shouldnt they be setting an example to the general public????Any one else noticed this??

Police have an Exemption, as do drivers of Black cabs and a couple of other vehicles I can't remember.
But they should be wearing one, as it shows a good example...

i believe they are the same rules as taxi drivers when they have a fare in the car i.e. they don' have to wear them if they have an arrest in for the chance of the seatbelt being used to tighten around the drivers neck. I'm sure they aren't exempt at other times.

Most force polices state - you should wear your seat belt at all times unless it is not safe to do so. I.e moving a prisoner etc.
The law says the following are exempt:
Medical exemptions issued by a doctor.
Black cabs whether they have a passenger or not.
Private taxis - carrying a paying passenger.
Delivery drivers who has deliveries are less than 50m apart.
Any driver of any vehicle that is reversing.
Police officers.

Come on!! You bored or something!!!
You could have titles this 'why do taxi drivers not wear seat belts?' and put an angry smily on it!
We have an exemption and we use it, it's our necks if we crash after all isnt it and it helps us get out and get after people a lot quicker. Can think of 2 instances off top of my head where not wearing a belt has helped me get a grip of someone i needed to sharpish.
Personally if you want to drive round without one on fine, as long as you don't come crying to me if it all goes wrong! I won't be!

This is something i often think, the filth pull you (the driver) over for not wearing your seatbelt when the only person at risk in the event of an accident is you, as stated by a copper here
I'm sure we're all aware that we are possibly endangering ourselves, but surely thats 'our own stupid fault'
it's our necks if we crash after all isnt it

Hang on. Don't the police say that 'we' should wear belts as they don't want tp clean up our remains off the highway. Fair enough, however do policemen and taxi drivers not make a mess when they crash? I guess they keep all their limbs and blood tucked away neatly somewhere

Nearly all police officers will wear a seat belt when driving even though they have an exemption.
Clearly common sense says they should wear one unless there is a good reason for not wearing it such as having a prisoner in the back seat.
The fact is though that they do have that exemption.
I don't know of one officer I have ever worked with in 17 years who doesn't wear a belt unless there is a specific reason. To me it's a bit like not wearing a watch on your wrist .... it feels a tiny bit odd; just like not wearing a belt whilst driving.
Talking of what happens if a police officer crashes without a seat belt is fine - if most didn't wear a belt, but they do. If people want to post saying they don't then they can waste their time BiB bashing for the hell of it because really thats all this thread is about.

Its a very simple law........only a complete retard would drive without a belt if there was no law - on the basis that there IS a law you would have to be an even bigger retard to not wear one.
Either way, it makes it a law to protect the fcukin stupid from their own foolishness......does that apply to you? if not....dont worry about it.

Perhaps police cars are fitted with so many airbags that they don't need seatbelts anymore...
Or that anticrash foam they use in Demolition Man

I think theres more important things to be getting on with in life than poxy seatbelts. Wear em, dont wear em, its your choice. If you get fined deal with it.

I love seeing kids crawling all over the back seats of cars with no seatbelt on.
I just want the chance to stop one of these parents and ask them if they love their children as the answer must be no...

i never used to wear my seat belt.
& whilst not wearing i was involed in a minor accident & the other car that hit the fallen tree @ the same speed as me was AIR LIFTED to Hospital with cracked ribs & neck burns both from the seat belt, i didnt have mine on & all i got was a bruised knee where it hit the stearing coloum!!
But since buying my SCOOBY, ive never left the parking bay with out it on, Dont know why, & its 2nd Nature to do so NOW.
