Default Place for a good weekend

Ok the Venice thread got me thinking.

I am looking at taking the Mrs away for a long romantic weekend somewhere. I have been thinking and looking on the interweb but can't make up my mind where to go.

I have a few ideas but only where I don't want to go.

Ideas I have had so far range from :

Staying in a swanky hotel in London and catching a show and dinner somewhere nice.

to

A weekend in Rome or Barcelona or somewhere.

But I can't decide where so I am looking for suggestions with personal experiences to back it up either positive i.e go there or negative i.e don't even think about it.

Thanks in advance.

Bring her over here and take her up the ring all weekend, she'll love it once she gets used to it

Take her to somewhere romantic like ... say.. Monte Carlo.

Take her next weekend, she'll love you for it.

By the time she realises WRC Monte Carlo Rally is on it'll be too late!

In all seriousness, why not go somewhere a little different like Corsica, or Sardinia - both stunning.

Vilars Sur Ollon (or however you spell it) in Switzerland is fantastic and will be a winter wonderland at this time of year.
