Can you recommend a HD ready television?

My bro' in law wanted to buy a HD plasma, but it turns out that you will have to subscribe to special channels to watch anything, Anything broadcast in HD will be on it's own special channel.
EG, say for example a football game broadcast in HD it will be broadcast as normal on Sky sport's and broadcast in HD on another channel.
It will be years before HD is the norm for TV broadcast's.

I'm looking for a HD TV as well. Can't decide if I should pay the premimum and buy one now or wait a while longer for prices to fall.
Does anyone know if this is a good one to go for
