Are they filming "The Hobbit"?
As per title really. I heard they were going to, it'd probably make a better film than LOTR, (many more adventures in a shorter book), but haven't heard owt, and don't know where to look.

I think theres been some dispute as to who actually owns the rights for the film, so until thats sorted it wont get made.
Im sure it will happen eventually though, with Peter Jackson directing and a big budget its sure to be great.

No mention of Ian McKellen filming it on imdb, and no mention of Peter Jackson writing a screenplay or producing/directing.

- as per the IMDB website, next up from Peter Jackson is an animated version of the computer game 'Halo', followed by 'The Lovely Bones' .....

he is trying to, he wants to but the familey own the rights to the book unlike lotr he didnt sell the rights to pay a tax bill and the familey wont sell but they are talking
