In spite of what everyone says about them, PC World normally have some stupidly cheap offers at bank holiday times. Just choose carefully!

Have a look at some of the Acer Laptops on here - I've had an Acer for about a year and they're a good budget option..

Most insurers exclude accidental cover on portable computers within the home (if you have away from home cover that might cover it though.....if you drop it outside). I too would suggest PCWorld if they still have any TV-advertised Advents for £350. If you know anyone who works for DSG then youll be looking at £315.........

Try looking on their website; offers like this will usually be 'PCWorld-only' though rather than over every chain.

Dell Factory Outlet

Factory refurbished Dells with full guarantee. Got a 1.6Mhz 510 for 500 quid odd from here. It changes regularly (throughout day).... Dont forget to tick the £50 discount box when ordering!

Get decent cover with L&G then. They specifically cover damage to laptops, computers and electronics goods within the home as part of the bog standard contents cover. If you take extended cover for an extra 80p a month they cover just about everything

If you are buying from PC World, see what the online prices are like. You can order an item on their website and collect from the store, so you don't have any delay.

I did that with my printer as they were the cheapest online, and the price was about 25 quid cheaper than their instore price.
