Default Tomtom one???

Has anyone got one? Whats the difference, other than the cheaper price, over the 300? Are they any good and easy to use? it's for my Dad and he's a bit of a technobiff!!!

Cheers

Sherlock my dear boy..

Got one for the wife this weekend just gone, superb peice of kit, easy to use and setup and no need to complicated activation like other devices, I would recomend it 100%, it has a much larger, sharper screen then some of the other sub £300 devices and so this was my main reason for going with it. If you look on ebay , they are being sold for £235 which is a bargain. Any other Q's let me know..

I bought my Dad the 300 at the weekend for Chrimble.

The 'One' is more fiddly to connect in the car. You have to hook it up to the mount and then plug in the power supply every time. Not a big deal but can be a bit tedius I guess. Especially if his car has a HUGE dash like a lot of MPV's/4x4's do.

With the Go 300 you plug the power lead into the mount so you just clip and unclip the unit everytime, no leads. Doesn't sound like much, but it is much easier to punch in your next destination with the unit in your hand so you are not stretching out over the dash.

That is about the only difference though. I have read somewhere that the sound is not as good a the GO units. How true though I don't know.

I went for the GO because it came with a free extra mount for another car which is now in the wifes car as I have a GO500

Just to add it seems a bit crap when typing in road names (it can't find several I have tried) but works a treat with postcodes.

Thanks guys, i've found Argos does the Tom tom one for £223.99 so i'll get him that one. I went to halfords and had a listen to both the one and 300 and couldn't tell the difference, it'll be plenty loud enough for him as i don't think he's fitted the HKS to his Daewoo yet!

Cheers again
