Default Escrow advice - http://www.secure-eltd.com

Hi all

I am toying with selling a high value item to a chappy in spain.

He is requesting we use an escrow service as follows:

http://www.secure-eltd.com

Has anyone here ever used them? Anything known? Or of any other escrow, such as www.escrow.com?

Just need to case the place out before I agree to it.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, pref. without people taking a deep breath and saying how risky the internet is

Have you tried Googling the company? Escrow-fraud is increasingly common, where the company is a front.

Id suggest finding a reputable escrow service (that you have both heard of) and proposing that you use that. If he wont then maybe all wasnt as it should have been.

escrow.com *is* legit, and is the only online escrow comapny I'd use.

So nearly got caught out like this myself...

That was a Good Question

Thanks for the input chaps.

I'm asking another buyer to use www.escrow.com.

Regarding the above, hmm, interesting, wonder if they can arrange a dictatorship in a small banana republic for me as well?

I wouldn't sell high value to Spain personally. Especially not on a 6k item.

In my experience, any buyer who asks you to use an Escrow service is a scammer - escro.com AFAIK is the ONLY real company still operating, all the others are set up by scammers to steal money.

If you do use them, dont believe any emails that say they come from Escrow.com saying they have had the buyers money - only check by logging in to your account on the site and making sure it is actually there. Scammers passing themselves off as escrow.com or their agents is quite common ( they will send you an email that will show as coming from escrow saying the payment has been received and you are free to send the item, but no money is ever sent ).

I wouldnt use one at all TBH, if the buyer isnt happy dealing in a normal way, then whatever happens they are likely to be more trouble than they are worth, so walk away - there are always more buyers out there.

p.s. Bet you £10 now that when you tell the bloke in Spain you'll only go through escrow.com thats the last you hear from him.
