No ethnic background allowed for MY kids, then!?!
Reading immigration post reminded me of own current huge irritation!
Kids' data form, with all their details on, from school has an 'ethnic background' section!
Fine if you're black or Asian, as you can be any 1 of 15 or so different sub-sections of this (Afro-Caribbean, Afro-American, Black African etc.) but, get this, there is NO provision for being ENGLISH!
ONLY option is British???
Form clearly states that 'ethnic background' is NOT the same as 'nationality', so how does this work?
No offense but half the world's population can claim themselves as "British' but (& this is NOT rascist in any way!), this does NOT make them "English'!
Normally, end up crossing out 'British' & writing in 'Anglo-Saxon' or something, just to annoy the plonkers but it REALLY bugs me!
Anyone else noticed this?
Maybe it's not PC to be English, you know, like not being allowed to celebrate St. George's Day in schools, as it might 'offend' certain people!
Our identify is slipping away...fading fast...nearly gone now...!

English is not a racial thing. Caucasian is what the form should have BUT thats normally the default.
Never anything on the form if you're mixed race either and if there is. never any interest in what the mix is.

You should come and work at the company I'm currently contracting at. There's no PC there. Everyone speaks their mind about anything and everything. Pretty shocking at times as I'm not used to it. I'm not racist but being at an un-PC company is a fresh of breath air. Oops!

Typical example was Andy Murray at Wimbledon......why not just say he is scottish ffs

Well there certainly wasnt on the recent census Scooby Addict. That's why mine and a few hundred other thousand went in the bin after they refused to re-print despite the mass protests.
By recognising a national identity you are much more likely to have a UK national unity. Denying Englishness or Welshness shows they have learnt NOTHING from history. Supress and prepare for battle!!!
