Congestion charge penalty
Ok, went into Central London and forgot to pay the £8 by Midnight
I realised at about 4am!! - but no way to pay per website
I called them and they said I would have to wait for the penalty notice code
Its been over 2 weeks now and nothing has arrived
I just get the impression that I'll get a letter say in a few weeks time saying 'you didnt pay' and now you have to pay say £100 plus penalty costs.
Is there any way of actually paying the thing as I was all for paying but was told I couldnt until I got the notice - I expect them to say, well we sent it on such/such date so its not our problem - now pay the bailiff fees, or whatever
Any comments?

Don't start me on these pockers
OK
Go on their website ( www.cclondon.com ) find (not easy, its in contact) the 0870 number, ring it and I think its option 3 & speak to a human - they are actually very helpful, just limited by the system.
If I were you, I would actually query the registration & whether it has been caught - you will have to do that to pay the penalty anyway. If there, they can take payment & if not, then it's a bonus.
& because there is so much red tape involved, they can't lie to you about whether or not you were there

Hmmm paying the next day very soon. Depends on your defiinition of very soon. My understanding is that this won;t come in until next September!
I also got caught by the forgetting to pay on the day problem, and found it next to impossible to pay the penalty. To add to the complications my car is leased. I finally got a demand from the leasing company for £175! The original penalty had been doubled as it wasn;t paid on time and then there was the leasing companys admin fee on top. The leasing company paid the fine debiting my account by direct debit.
I wrote to them saying that I objected to paying the £175, I didn;t mind paying £75 plus their admin fee as I had forgotten, but it wasn't my fault the penalty had not been paid. The leasing company agreed refunding the excess penalty and their admin fee. But my guess was that as the Congestion Charge finances only work if large numbers of people are fined that they don't send out the penalty notices in time so are always getting £150!

It is possible the cameras missed you. I forget the figures but it is not uncommon.
So if the car is registered to you etc.,..
I would sit tight and cross your fingers, you may have got away with it.

No - ring up & check. As I said they can't lie to you as the paperwork is too much.

Sorry I know this has nothing to do with the thread but I don't know how workers in London possibly cope paying £8 a day...with parking on top.
I thought £5 was too much.
I'm just amazed that the streets aren't awash with unregistered 'bangers'

CCLondon is there to cut congestion. But if you pay in advance they now give you free visits?? Hows that work?
It looks like you've been lucky. I've forgotten to pay in the past and had nothing through. In the same stroke, I've also paid and been fined. Make sure you keep any receipts for a fair while It is after all a scam

I got away with it a few times after forgetting to pay....nothing turned up
suck it and see- you cant just pay the charge now anyway as its too late, so wait until the first penalty comes through then pay it. If it doesnt then congratulations

I used to get 'hit' all the time, not my fault my job can entail travelling into london at the drop of a hat during charging times and i can be stuck on a site somewhere untill after midnight with no means of paying !!!!
Anyway......go here and register ...... worth every penny
www.fivepounds.co.uk
I signed up it's fappin excellent, only 7 quid a pop, all payable at the end of the month, once you have viewed your invoice and it only costs £10.00 admin per month.

Bristol is also very close to introducing a congestion charge so I was informed the other day - hey and they have even less of a public transport infrastructure, what it is to live in Great Britain these days!!
Sorry can't help regarding payment, just thought I would fore warn anyone in the southwest to not get to smug that Londoners and visitors to london are getting stung for the congestion charge.
You can now pay via text message but I'm not sure if you have to register your mobi No 1st, however once your No is set up thats it - you just text your reg and get billed direct to a pre arranged card, I think.
