Painful sneezes
I seem to have some sort of strange cold at the minute, started Saturday night after a night out and I suddenly became very tired, my eyes were painful, puffed up and I had a stinking headache.
Managed to relax yesterday and it mostly cleared, just have a runny nose now and slightly bunged up.
Felt a sneeze coming on about 5 minutes ago, and after a single "normal" sneeze it was followed by a second "wraith of god" type sneeze, a really loud one.
But here's the odd bit - I sneezed so hard that all the muscles in my upper body, chest and arms must have contracted or something and i've been left in complete agony for the last 5 minutes as though i've overdone it at the gym.
All my upper limbs were numb and the pain was quite bad.
Anyone had this before? I'm ****ting it now in case I need another sneeze.

You should hear me sneeze. Think I might go check the guinness book of records for the loudest sneezer, I've been assured I am the loudest, they are fairly violent too anything spillable in hand needs to be put down in haste to prevent sneeze induced mass spillage. I just live with it. Although the sneezing fits (allergies ) are a PITA

I have something similar on occasion, but the pain only lasts for a couple fo seconds. A sneeze can be pretty violent, I suppose it's just possible you could overbrace of it and end up pulling / straining muscles as a result?

but it has turned a few heads though
A full power sneeze in a quiet church during a funeral was a low point of this problem, at least the prat with ringing mobile phone got more unapproving looks than I did

Quite often when I sneeze it makes my shoulders hurt and occasionally my biceps with exactly the kind of pain you describe. The wife think's I'm exaggerating when it happens I just put it down as "one of those things", it's happened to me for years.

I get that too, think it might have something to do with pressure, espesially if you have a blocked nose the pressure is increased, so when you sneeze it creates an elevation in blood pressure for a short time.......maybe, then again maybe not
