Default Aid for Katrina

Is it just me or are the US after aid for Hurricane Katrina ?

Whilst I feel sorry for the victims should it not be the government and people of the richest country in the world that sorts out the aid ?

Thousands have died but thousands die in Africa every day, New Orleans is a popular tourist destination, where do all those tourist dollars go ?

This made me chuckle.

I suppose it sounds a bit callous and I would like to know the full situation, it just a question I would like answering.

No it's not you, they are after aid. as I've said in other threads, I think it's totally out of order to ask for aid, and I certainly and not donating in any way or shape or form. They are a nice big wealthy country and they should be more than able to help out thier own citizens, especially seeing as they have enough spare cash to wage war on Iraq, which isn't exactly cheap.

Maybe they could put a few cents on their petrol prices to pay for the clean up and reconstruction etc.

Just a thought....

I dont think it is money so much as aid in kind they are asking for. We have sent 1/2 million meal packs and the people in Cornwall have sent a load of survival packs as well.

I think that is the right thing to do.

If you want to donate to anyone, donate to Red Cross, they'll provide aid to those who need it the most. the US always have looked after number 1 so let them keep doing it, after all its not like thier skint

Rumour has it that they are planning a "live aid" type event to be held in early October and they've asked the animals to reform so they can perform "There is a house.....".

I know it's bad taste, but can't help but wonder why USA would seek help when it took alot of diplomats alot of time and pressure to force them to increase their africa aid donation. Heads within the government should roll for the lack of aftermath aid within their own "great country".

Makes you wonder how our government would cope with a calamity of such proportions.
