Dodgy letter!
I don't know if anyone remembers the 2 seperate Christmas cards I got last year that were addresses to other people but at my address, but today we got another letter with our full address but someone else's name on it.
We decided to open it to see if there were any details we could use to either send it on or send it back. In it was a form for the Criminal Records Bureau that had been filled in by the person the letter was addressed to and they'd given a completely different address to ours. As I was scratching my head wondering how they'd got our address, MrsREV turned the form over and the person had filled in our details as their previous address and said that they lived here from 2001 to 2003, which surprised us a bit as we've lived here since 1998!
Now I've actually written back to the place where the form came from (it's obviously part of a job application) stating that the person isn't known by us and that they definately didn't live here during the time stated.
The thing is, I'm wondering whether I should send it or not. I mean first off, this could foof up someone's chance of a job and they may have made an honest mistake and secondly, should I have even opened the letter in the first place?
Opinions welcomed

send it. if they intend to defraud their prospective employer by given false information do they really deserve the job?
one other thought - get onto Experian or Equifax and get your credit report - last thing you want is to get your credit rating black listed because this person has been "living" at your address

We got a couple of mobile phone bills to our house, someone elses name. We sent them back with a letter, turns out, the person could not get credit rating on their own address, so they used ours

You can always say that you opened it as an honest mistake - it IS to your house after all and you opened it without looking at the name.
Then after reading the letter you realised it was misaddresses and decided to let the senders know.
It's not *exactly* lying... ethically you're in the clear

As it's for the 'Criminal Records Bureau' and I assume, a job application. Would you want someone who's not reliable working in that public body in a position of trust? I wouldn't...
Send the letter.

Shows that the supposed checks by CRB are not very good to say the least !
LooK on the electrol register, they might be registered to vote at your house as well !
But then again the company that prints the actual CRB record and posts its have had a few major **** ups's.
