Default Simple pulley system

I am trying to create an outdoor home firing range for my air pistol and I want to have a pulley system so I can stand and pull the targets towards me then push them back (lazy I know!) to shoot at them. The place where I am firing has a roof which is handy I guess as I would anticipate that some mechanicals of any system would need to be fixed to the roof.
What’s needed is a simple pulley system to pull & push the targets (which will be on a large square of wood) but I don’t have an engineering bone in my body.
Anyone have any pictures of systems that I can copy or any ideas?

LOL yep indeed but how do I attach the sheet of board onto the string, as the board will be quite heavy, how do I then push it back as thats only a pull system, etc etc

You're in luck, I got one of the CAD designers to knock this up for you. If you need any help with the more technnical aspects of the design let me know.

Jacks solution will work .

The string goes round the wheels. You can pull the string either way - depending on which way you want the board to go. Tie the board to the string hanging from the bottom of the two wheels.

ajm may well come along with an engineering solution that will be much better - but it'll take longer to construct & you'll probably need some sort of maintenance plan

That means Ro's shooting gallery will be 3.7 m (approx) Long.

May need more length (and possibly more wheels to ensure no gravitational issues.

And if the drawing is to scale, Ro is about 9 feet tall

Oh cr@p, i was following this thread as i am also thinking of setting up a lazy buggers shooting gallery.

Couple of issues though.
I have the design which, i must say blew me away. Rik I take it your CAD designers are paid what they are worth!

But this is the slight sticking point(s)
I do not have an airgun, targets or pellets
My string is too long at 8.0m

thanks anyway

Paul

A simple air gun can be fashioned from a wasing up liqud bottle and some sticky back plastic. Pellets can be formed fromr olled up tin foil. Your screwed on the string through

I started to try and calculate Ro's height but the maths / triangulation got too complex inside my head - so I went for the short shooter comment

Also, according to my calculations performed on a home-made abacus created with beach pebbles and cheesy wotsits, if the string gets any longer than this, then YOU'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER F*****G GUN!
