Tiz like that here, it is illegal to wash your car anywhere other than in a designated washing station which has a seperate drainage system.
Your neighbour will report you if you are seen and the police WILL come and fine you.

Great...I can prosecute the idiot he washes his car in the road instead of his drive
Sods law dicates evertime I wax the car, I drive down the road and end up getting dirty water sprayed up the sides of the car because of the huge puddle he's left when he cleaned his car...annoying to say the least

Thats not the problem
Your waste water from the house goes into the sewage system
the drains in the road goes straight back into rivers/sea thats why they don't like oil / chemicals poured into drains
IIRC of course

On Saturday, I had just finished washing my car (in the drive) and was leathering off the final bits when suddenly my back got wet and I heard 'sorry'.
The stupid woman across the road had decided to put her car in the street and jetwash it, with the wind blowing the water across to me and my clean car.
I was not impressed.

I always wash my car on the road. If I wash it on the drive and all the water collects round the house. Plus if hoovering out after, it helps to have a nice dry area to stand and not get wet feet inside car.

Generally most water that leaves the sewage treatment works is not drinkable, it is returned to the river/resevoir system, where it dilutes again, and then is drawn off downstream at water treatment works where it is filtered and dosed, then distributed.

A bit of soapy water down the drains round here where I work would probably to the the drainage system the world of good. Lets just say there are a lot of restaurants, takeaways, Halal shops and taxi's. I've seen restaurants and takeaways pouring old cooking oil down the drains, Halal shops pouring disgusting looking water down the drains, taxi drivers and like minded car drivers doing oil changes on there cars and pouring the old oil down the drains. No wonder we see the lorries hoovering out the drains on a regular basis
