Default Bideford Bay

As above really, anyone stayed there and can give me their experiences, hoping to go with the family and hoping there is enough to do for our 2 1/2 year old daughter.

Cheers

Gary

I assume you mean Bideford in Devon, if you do it's a very nice place, theres plenty of things to do and see, i'd reccomend a visit to Appledore in the evenings, nice pubs and restaraunts, plus normally plenty of activities for children, its a very friendly town, where you're made to feel welcome, and people are polite to holiday makers, also in Bideford you'll find Atlantic village outlet centre, if your wife wants some retail therapy, and lots of other activities within easy driving distance of Bideford, and some good cameraless driving roads nearby.

Hire some bikes and do the Tarka Trail. It's an old railway line, so not steep and very smooth. Follows the estuary before turning inland and following the river. Great way to spend 3-4 hours on a nice afternoon, plus there's a couple of pubs en-route

Careful if you go into the sea. I did in Bude and spent the rest of the holiday with a really sore throat and streaming eyes. Appartently I was a victim of the sewage pollution there. The surfers become immune to it after a while. Not nice.

I have never had a problem in the sea in Cornwall & they are known to be the cleanest waters around

Forgot to mention, just down the road is Clovelly, a beautiful olde worlde fishing village (well, more of a tourist attraction now ) that seems unchanged for the last 200 years. Well worth a wander through and down to the harbour for a pint in the Red Lion. If you're not up to the walk back up, there's Land Rovers to whiz you back to the car park.

Loads of coast walks, and don't forget Cornwall is only down the road, and there's lots to do there.

Don't think it's like that *everywhere* in Cornwall but it was around Bude.

Not a dodgey currey - wrong symptoms. I just thought I had caught a chill or something until somebody told me what the likely cause was. It felt like a bad cold apart from the constantly watering eyes and lasted several days. Ugh....

Is a nice place, and the north coast road that runs down through Bude down to Wadebridge in Cornwall and beyound i a great drive, used to do it fairly regular when I lived in Cornwall and worked out on the road, not too much traffic.

And if you need that retail theorpy dont forget that Barnstable is only just over the river, not Sarf London, but a little more lively than Bideford.
