Italian Ice Cream
Does anyone in the north-east know whether the pieroni (sp?) family (used to have a shop in ashington) still make ice cream/sold their family recipe? i think their shop closed in the late 80's (was opposite the fire station/other side of the road to the library)
the closest we have found it hagen daaz vanilla, but certainly not the same

had kulfi a few times now at indian weddings - very nice but not as you said moses, the italian stuff is the best! the pieroni's were/are a family of confectioners i think, who also happened to sell ice cream. as far as i noticed when we used to go in their shop, the ice cream was the only thing that really sold well.
there is another italian ice cream place i stumbled across (could have been in whitley bay, right next to a roundabout - notice the queues of people waiting to be served and then saw the ice cream sign so i had to stop! not pieronis though, sadly)

There's a place that sells gorgeous ice cream at Seaton Delaval, keep an eye out for it, I cant remember the name, but my husband's dad lives there so I'll ask him, I go everytime we are up home coz I can't get enough of it.

No I don't think so, you go past Delaval Hall to get to it, Delaval Hall is on your left and just past it down the road on your right hand side is the ice cream place, but there is a roundabout, haven't seen a snooker club though.

Well I dont ususlly take much notice when in the car lol, but its not in town, I'm sure it just looks like houses where it is, and there isn't any parking, you sort of have to go down the side of the building

that sounds familiar. if it's the same one, then there's a dead end off the roundabout to the left of how you described approaching the shop and i'm pretty sure there was a snooker club or something there.
do you have the address or the name? might have to see if i can order some by post!

I'm not too sure if it's called Crescent cafe, it was once just an ice cream shop but is now a cafe aswell
If it's the right one the address and phone number is
The Crescent Cafe
3 Avenue Crescent
Seaton Delaval
Whitley Bay
Tyne & Wear
NE25 ODN
0191 237 1461
Heres a link I just found, shows an old pic and a new pic of the place, and it is the right one that I was thinking of
