Best place to buy currency?

I tend to buy currency in the country where I'm visiting i.e take my local currency and change it abroad. Used to be you would get a better deal but not so sure nowadays.

Use a bank machine at your destination. By far and away the cheapest method.
We always take some trav. cheques along too, just in case it all goes pear-shaped.

Try Thomas Cook!!! no dont laugh.
when i told them a place around the corner coudl do me a deal they said they could match it. Get this On teletext it was telling me 11.05 Nok to the GBP and i got 11.25 from Thomas Cook - result!!!

Holiday money I use Travelcare 'cos they usually have better rate but take a walk round bureau in your town/city for best rate on day.
Larger quantities speak to your bank about a commercial rate.
