Thumbs up Aren't We All Doing VERY Well!!??

Bank of England figures reveal that UK residents have £528 billion of cash on deposit.

Averaged out across the UK's 25 million households, this comes to over £21,000 per household.

An excellent state of affairs - thanks Mr Blair!!

The wealth more evenly distributed

Tut tut.
Your education in engineering will have covered some statistical work no doubt.
Perhaps a chart showing the distribution, among different income levels, of this cash would be of more validity.
Averaging means nothing here.
Please credit the rest of us with some sense.

What about the other study done that says that if you have more than £20,000 in net assets then you are in the richest 5% of the population

90% of which is probably held by 10 people.

I imagine the Duke of Westminster has a few quid lurking around somewhere for starters...

Just another example of making statistics making the situation to appear how they would like it to be even though it actually bears no relation to the real world!

So when Mr Average (even if he existed) retires he's got £21k to invest for his retirement. Wow - that should be worth about twenty quid a week

And if you factor in the amount of debt every household has and average that out....
