J 14-18 these new super high distance MOBILE camera apparantly- although I have yet to see one, despite travelling down there several times a week. hmm
Other than that stick your foot down and keep your eyes open as there are no other cameras until the ones by heathrow and onwards.

The Second Severn Crossing approaching the tolls is a "hot Spot" for the fuzz, 50 MPH zone. Be aware.
There is normally a mobile van on the bridge just before J35 Pencoed/Bridgend.
Two cameras are permanent nr Port Talbot and Neath J42/43.
Be aware that the Police and Transport Dept have a new HQ on J32/A470 Cardiff too! Snooper/Angel goes bezerk!!!
We also have a number of mobile vans in South Wales. Big Brother is watching!!!!!

As above really - the approach to the toll plaza is signposted 50 - stick to it, too many people have been caught out.
As with the rest of south Wales, as Blue Dragoon states, there are only two fixed GATSO's on the M4 both in the 50 mph section at Port Talbot, one westbound, one east.
Most of us who use the s Wales M4 know which bridges are likely to be used by the vans, especially the one just before J35 - its just after a sweeping left hand bend, but its fair to say that almost any bridge could possibly have a van parked on it.
Take it easy and keep your eyes open
Edited to add - As you are only going to cardiff you don't need to worry about the J35 site and the GATSOs - the rest still applies.
As well - the police often use the intersection at the Magor services (first junction after Second Severn Crossing) for VASCAR checks as you drop down towards it and pass underneath, and camera vans have been spotted on the next bridge along from there !

Saw a van between J16 and J17 three weeks on a bridge, so it's not just bull****, they do exist. No NIP yet though.
Fixed Gatso westbound in the 40mph roadworks just after J18 as well.
Use the old Severn bridge (M48?). No 50mph limit, no scamera vans and only about a mile longer (you can make that up by not having to go so slow....).

They are there quite regularly (see them on bridges between junction 14-15 which I drive twice every day). If you don't break the limit / law then you've nothing to worry about.

I drive Bristol to Staines every day and have done for the last 6 months, was commuting to Slough for 18 months before that.
These new vans were out in force just after the announcements, and have been out occasionally since, but most of the time they are nowhere to be seen.
Also of course if it's foggy, raining or dark then obviously they're not. There are fixed cameras both sides at J18 set at 40 MPH so you have to watch those.
Mostly you can see them from a long way off, there's only a few bridges that they can use anyway as a lot are footpath/cattle bridges. Having said that, mostly you can't speed even if you wanted to as everyone is driving at 79MPH so they're having the desired effect...
