Reading about how ordinary the bombers were,no list of previous terrorist offences,and even some of their relatives didnt suspect then how the hell are MI5 supposed to prevent more acts.The only common link is Pakistan,either connections of a recent visit.

One more thought,how did the four bombers get to know each other?

Ordinary seems to be a trend. What about the spies that Cambridge University helped groom. How many died as Philby and co passed secrets to the Russians. I bet the deaths of a few spies were not nice to witness.

Thats a very simplistic view though, their families didn't know but there is obviously a lot of people involved. Eg: think of the supply chain for the military grade explosives. Any weak link could expose them.

IIRC, I heard on the radio this morning that they are investigating claims that the bombs were made from ingredients gathered from a chemists.

Suicide bommbers are the most difficult threat to counter of course and last Thursday's events are a big worry to us all now.

The authorities have done pretty well up to now in gathering intelligence to stop any attacks, but things have now become far more dangerous. We have to realise that we are up against a determined and very clever enemy.

Now visiting Pakistan is one thing - but visiting Afganistan is quite another - and it seemed to be public knowledge (in his circle of friends).
Of course the guy could have been talking bollox - but why would he ??

I would suggest that this sort of info could be useful to MI5 and is the sort of info that the Muslim Community needs to be giving to the authorities !

FFS - You can't tell me that the parents did not know. What did they think they were up to in Pakistan and Afganistan?

They were all from Beeston (I live about 2 miles away from there as the crow flies) and that is where they met either at the mosque or in the park - whatever.

One of them (the youngest) handed out leaflets at his high school after 9/11 telling fellow students 'Watch Your Backs' and 'Your Next' etc etc and yet nobody seemed to think this was a little odd and worth reporting at the time.

Am I shocked by last weeks events? NO

Do I think we got off lightly? YES

Do I think it will happen again? YES, but on a bigger scale possibly involving a 'dirty' device and maybe even non-asian sympathisers.

I am sick to death of all the bum licking 'community spirit' propaganda that is been spouted around in all areas of the media. Beeston has been a hot-spot of racial tension for years and was the scene of some serious rioting not that long ago.

It is true that only a tiny minority are so radicalised as to die for their 'cause' but believe you and me there are a hell of a lot more who believe their actions are worthy of praise.

My point is, that just because your parent/relatives dont know something about you, well that doesnt mean it's not happening, and it also doesnt mean that the police (MI5) dont know
