As long as it is a 'proper' gatso - i.e a big yellow/grey box then thats part of the fun of speed cameras......
Blast past them fast enough going towards them they get confused and flash - they usually only flash once too........
I wish more people KNEW that gatsos ONLY take pics from behind - 'safety partnerships' paint lines of both sides of the road to brainwash the stupid into thinking they work both ways - the more well informed know better
n.b DO NOT try this with a Truvelo camera - Blue camera with red lenses - or it will prove expensive!

They DO work both ways, as Ive already said; a GATSO can be set for oncomming violations but they arent approved for use in that manner by the Home Office. A number of Camera Partnerships have attempted to use them in this manner too, despite the lack of approval.

as it takes its pictures of the front of on coming traffic, so you couldn't get

My missus 'got flashed' and was subsequently fined by a Gatso on the otherside of the road a few months back. In Holland they are allowed to get you both ways

A ...er...friend sets them off in the opposite direction if possible- to waste the film.
So annoying when people slam on the brakes for one facing the other way.
In theory they could get a snap of you going the other way, but if you actually look at where you are when it flashes, the angle of the camera is such that they wont be able to see the number plate, and normally a fair chance they cant see any of the car at all.
Not to mention they legally cant prosecute you for it in the opposite direction, and if you contest any such case on that basis it will get dropped straight away,
This erm friend....passes 2 en route to work three nights a week- flash twice too- and has been doing that for 7 months now, so has probably wasted approaching 160 or so seperate shots B@stards.
*legal disclaimer- all of the above may be fictional.

I've seen this happen once or twice on the bike too. However it is risky to play with fire - you never know how much time/staff they have on their hands given all the money they make...

But the Truvelo wouldn't be facing you if its on the oppositte side of the road
as it takes its pictures of the front of on coming traffic, so you couldn't get
done by one on the other side of the road ??

thought most people new you could set them off from other direction with out any chance of being caught, been doing that for years but only with the live ones that the radar pics up lol

They may flash you when approaching but they are not supposed to and the evidence is not acceptable for a conviction.
I would be inclined to complain to the police about the danger of the light flashing in your eyes!

If it was a Gatso, then you're ok, as they're not home office approved for front facing photos, as explained above.
