Question Has anyone been watching Live8 tonight?

I've been out all day, finally come home, and can't get it on TV. Can anyone give a good review?

Brendon - just read any of about a dozen threads in NSR or on just about every other forum I've been on today. Summed up: pretty average, in terms of performances, until The Who - they've just blown everyone away

Hi Brendan, I was out all day too (we on the continent can do this because we have proper weather ) and got back in time to see 1.5 songs The Who were doing and then caught Pink Floyd, both performances were excellent. Paul McCartney was on and I switched over as everytime I see the man I want to slap that patronising look off his gob...watched some of the earlier performances on BBC3, all of which looked to be as entertaining as a bowl of porridge -- Madonna, Snoop Dog, etc. -- flicked back to BBC1 and they were doing "Hey Jude". How original. Over to the USA and Slack Eyed Tease were on...switched over to the Paramount Comedy Channel had a couple of whiskies, a laugh or three and went to bed. I think that sums up the "greatest concert in history".

got to be honest
i couldnt give a **** about this pile of **** which surprisingly enough would sum up the actual feelings of most of these stars if truth be told
geldof looks like a scabby tramp (all he needs is a bottle of industrial strength cider and a dog on a string. he is the classic example of the tub thumping opportunist who knows nothing about the situation and chooses to make the most of his 15 mins of fame.
I see the other clowns and i want to puke blood!!!!!!!!!!
if world debt is actually a pressing isue in their eyes why not forgo that bentley gt or the platinum encrusted loo roll holder and actually donate
its just an excuse to rattle the tin and look worthy
i cringe at my fellow man for buying into this lip service

"i couldnt give a **** about this pile of **** which surprisingly enough would sum up the actual feelings of most of these stars if truth be told"

what crap....i know a few actors quite well who are well aware of their luck in earning millions and want to help others who are less well off. what are you basing your idea upon?

"geldof looks like a scabby tramp"

so?

"the classic example of the tub thumping opportunist who knows nothing about the situation"

so he's dedicated himself to it for 20 years yet knows nothing?

"if world debt is actually a pressing isue in their eyes why not forgo that bentley gt"

because if every act thier gave up their wealth it would be a drop in the ocean......why dont you give up your wealth?

"i cringe at my fellow man for buying into this lip service"

thats ok, im sure fellow man doesnt give a toss about your ill informed nonsense

I have to shake my my head at the absolute nonsense that so many on here have posted

Get involved and then you can have an opinion...if you can't be ar$ed to find out the facts, then carry on with the cr*p you're spouting now

How do you know that the people expressing doubts or cynicism are not themselves involved in charitable acts but just don't like to brag about it?

And by the way, living in a (relatively) free country means we can all have an opinion, you just might not happen to agree with it.

Regards
Dave

simply because they are not
a prime example would be u2 who owe live aid for making them as a group
they blatently used their slot (running over at the expense of everyone else to promote themselves) then have the absolute cheek to hitch themselves to any political bandwagon running
sunday bloody sunday
sunday bloody cheek morelike!!!!!!!!!!

and the how do you know they are not donating etc arguement wears thin when most groups funds flow statements are a matter of public record

this was just a case of a load of wasjed up "stars" making good on the public conscience
id laugh if i wasnt so sick

Being "involved with charitable acts" can sometimes be a useful way of not paying tax. Call me cynical (and i probably am) but there are very few selfless acts nowadays.

Does that bother me?...No
What does bother me is sanctimonious statements from people who don't actually DO anything but criticise the acts of others.

Get off your ar$es and DO something.

Clear out the local pond...go shopping for that old bloke who lives next to you but can't get out any more...take that dog for a walk....you know the old dear can't do it ....cut someones hedge....jeezus, i could go on ad infinitum and i haven't even moved out of england!!!!!

and don't even spend a penny.....cos that wouldn't be right ,would it

Who deserves your well earned cash but you

I missed most of it, including REM & Coldplay who i wanted to see ( but i did see the Who and pink floyd who were superb.

I noticed some of the MTV channels had highlights but i couldnt be bothered with all the adverts.
