Default Good deed for the day.

So there I was this evening working overtime.
Slaving away for a few extra hours to make my minted-rich boss even richer, whilst earning myself a few pennies to make my existance more bearable.
(can you tell I dont like my job?)

After I was finished I was just leaving and spotted someone lurking about at the gate.
Randoms at the gate after hours red nearly always pikeys (I work at a caravan dealership) "Haw man, how muckle is yer cheapest van, like?"

[******] I fooking HATE pikeys[/******]

Anyway, this guy looked a lot better dressed than the average new-age traveller so I asked what he was after. He had quite a strong foreign accent, Spanish or Italian maybe, I couldnt tell. He wanted a mains connection lead for a caravan, but had been stuck in traffic hence him arriving after we shut. The alarm was set by then and I didnt want to open up again as I would get a rollocking for it tomorrow. I considered sending the guy to the boss`s house next door to ask, but seeing as the boss is such a miserable chuff, he would either just refuse or charge the guy triple "for the inconvenience"

The poor guy was stuck without the lead so I told him to follow me and we went up to my garage, which is the old workshop/store for work as I reckoned there was bound to be a few old leads lying around. Sure enough there was one, which I gave to the guy. He asked how much I wanted.
Seeing as the lead would just end up in the bin eventually, I didnt want anything for it. He insisted so I said £5. He said he would give me something worth more than that instead.
From the boot fo his car he produced a folio of paintings. Turns out he was an art student and had done them all himself. He allowed me to take my pick.

I was gob-smacked. the paintings were fabulous quality.
He insisted I take one, so I chose this...

Cheers mate.

Well done mate.

Simple compassion has its own rewards.

Now go and check the wheels on your car.

No, seriously, nice one.

LOL..... Dont know where you are in the country, but about 2 weeks ago we had a girl who said she was from some country i cant remember, she came in to work selling painting .... there where a couple there an one just like that one. If i remember there was one distinctive one. A red rose and the whole painting was of this massive rose bud, in red.
We were sure it was a scam and sent her on her merry way

OK guys, here's the scam fact

The Lothian and Borderes Police know all about this and have warned residents in Peebles and West Linton about this.

I'm not saying the guy in david's story has anything do with it, but it seems a bit too coincidental to me

3 weeks ago a foreign student (my dad reckoned it was a polish/lithuanian/slovenian..kind of accent) arrives at his front door asking if he wants to but some original paintings for £3 each that he has painted himself. He has a sign stating this written in the help the homeless style as his English is minimal.
Dad laughs, tells him it's clearly a print and as he's a busy man working from home, to clear off.
At which point he begins getting abusive in his local tongue and insists that he buys a print. The harrasment continues for a couple of minutes at which point the student flips the sign around and it says give me £2 and I will go away and leave you in peace

Dad says no, at which point the student puts his foot in the door.

Dad says hang on I will get some money from the kitchen (which the student seemed to understand)

He then goes to the kitchen and opens the door which lets CZAR (Giant long-haired white Alsation ex-police dog) out and he duly attacks the student and student was last seen running down the road

100% true !!!

LMFAO at SiPie, cracking, funnily enough I was in Manchester middle of March and was in the local booze store picking up a crate... there was a young foriegn woman in there showing off some paintings claiming she was skint and selling off course work to get some cash (poor english too) anyhow the people behind the til seemed nice people. bought 1 off her at which she looked very pleased about, thnk it was a fiver... then the shop keeper gave her a can of coke from the fridge and said bye.... thought it was a bit strange seeing a forign student, skint, miles away from any decently know uni (this was in a suberb of manc not the city centre) with that story????

ohh well everyone seemed happy at the final outcome... but whats the scam... apart from it was a print????

Yeah...that was the line...

Maybe not a scam, but very pushy and effectively demanding £2 to clear off from your doorstep.

Think I'll try practising my best Lithuanian accent and givie it a go
