Anyone know of effective methods to stop snoring? i'm asking for a friend whos had a problem for a while. He recently has a septoplasty(sp?) in Jan but he still snoars!!
he's thinking of trying some of these mouthguard kind of devices next... just wondeering if anyone has any experience of these?
Next on the list....ear plugs for the girlfriend!!
Cheers,

This apparently works, a mate who I worked with told me about it. If you have a Brewery near you go to it, take a little plastic bag and ask if you can collect some of the hops off the floor (they wont be missed) then get some material, ie-cotton etc, something strong, and make a little pouch and put the hops inside (obviously not still in the plastic bag!), put in the microwave until warm and sleep with it under your pillow, something in the hops mixed with warmth stops snoring apparently.

Having tried everything (plaster on bridge of nose, all sorts of throat-coating liquids etc), I ended up trying a "Snoreban". It's a mouth guard which you mould so your bottom jaw aligns to your top jaw. Having worn a mouthguard for years when I played rugby, I didn't think it would be a problem - I think it cost about £40 or so.
To be completely honest, it has worked like a dream for a couple of years (and my wife wil vouch for that) but there is a couple of downsides:
1) As it effectively locks your jaws together, you can't breath through your mouth (or talk!!) so it's no use if you've got a cold or your nose is blocked!
2) The first few weeks whilst you're getting used to it is quite painful, and my gums bled a few times.
3) I must have looked like a complete ****!
I would sugget you try your friend (!) tries it - nothing ventured, nothing gained in my opinion. Feel free to PM me if you want any other details.
