yes call me a wussy-but - and i know they dont hurt -but-im scared of needles-any idea's-suggestions how to make myself less scared of them

You're not alone.
Have you tried any hypnotism etc. ? Is there a reason you need to conquer this fear right now or is it some thing you feel very strongly about and want to get a hold of?
Try the relative approach....... they are teeny tiny things, you are huge in comparison, there's a lot bigger things they could be sticking into you. And, they generally, are not in there very long. Deep breath.

funny enough-no-but its the 6 p's aint it(prior preparation prevents **** poor peformance) and in time i mite want the snip or stitches, at the moment i have lied at hospital to get out of an injection

You'll probably be unconcious OR, be so grateful for the medical attention, you'll forget to be scared.
I was taken to hospital a few weeks ago in the back of an ambulance, first time, and its done wonders for my fear of hospitals. I seem to have laid a few ghosts.

Not helpful, but I used to have a horrendous, sweaty, shaky fear of needles...

Found out I was diabetic......

Choice between death or needles and it became somewhat easier

you wont need one for the snip except for a little local anaesthetic which you wont see going in if it helps. I fell asleep when i had the snip...naturally. good GP surgeon.

you can always ask for non-injection forms where suitable but depending on why you are in hospital could be tricky.

I used to be petrified (sp?) of needles also, however I fell through a building shattering my right arm in the process, its surprising how soon you get used to needles in that situation they dont bother me in the slightest now at all!

wouldnt go and do that though, best bet is to look away and think of something else.

Don't often meet someone who isn't scared of them.

I find it best to look in the other direction completely and brace myself for the needle. It usually does not hurt anything like as much as you imagine it will.

Exposure to them is the way that I started to overcome the problem. If you know a nurse get your hands on a needle. Get used to it being near you, then get used to the idea that you may ask your friendly nurse to use it. Then actually ask her.

Build up slowly, each step that you take being a positive one. Each time you manage a bit more without fainting. Slowly you convince yourself that you are getting better and better.

Worked reasonably well for me. Had to have 8 injections in the space of 1 hour. Nearly spaced out on the first one, but after that was OK. I'm not keen on needles now, but just about OK with them. I need to be exposed to them again soon before I lose my positive attitude

Im terrified of needles and medical staff really dont seem to understand; they seem to equate your size with your ability to 'take it', Im 6' 3" so it should be easy.....

Its an irrational fear because I know full well that I can pinch my arm and it will hurt far more.
