I put lockwood white dials on my old MY97. I got the kit from GGR and the quality is top notch. Before you do anything though you need to realise it is similar to taking the back off a watch any messing about, you run the risk of it not working properly when you put it back together.

The one thing I didn't realise is that they are replacement dials, not stickers. You need to take the black dials off and change them over.
This means removing the needles on the tacho and speedo. The kit comes with comprehensive instructions which you must follow, like you have to mark the resting place of the needles in order to put them back on in the same place. The main dash is easy to take appart.

My two mistakes where, firstly you need to cut the fuel and temp guage to slide them off. I was clumsy and snapped the temp needle, it was about £30 for a new one.(the new white dials slide on using pre-made slits). Secondly when I put the main dial needles back on I pushed them on too hard causing false readings, I then had to take it all appart again.

If you are careful and patient the result is great and really lifts the quality of the display. After I had done mine I was advised that I should of take it to a specialist who whould of done o better job for less than £30.

Kevin.

Question

Hi there......

Can anybody give me some advice on which make of white dial kits are worth buying for MY97.

I've heard varying reports about the quality of some of them...... and also are they fairly easy to fit

Any information would be appreciated

Thanx
