Default Insurance - want copy of driver's licence

My Caterham insurance has been taken over by a new company. Before they will issue a new policy they want a copy of my license. Never had to do this before in 30 years of driving.

Has this happened to any of you guys?

I've only ever been asked for my license to settle a write-off payout claim, not to continue a policy. I wouldnt worry about it though, theyre probably just checking the endorsements (if any) have been recorded.

Every car insurance company since 1986 has asked for a copy of my driving licence.

The purchase of my Scoob a few years back was delayed until expended points were off my licence.

I'm amazed that anyone gets insurance without being asked. Having said that, I've always gone for the cheapest quote, rather than go for a "reputable" insurance company. I've only ever renewed my insurance with the same company once though.
