Joss Stone's 'Mind, Body & Soul’
My CD player shows (and plays) 10 minutes of silence before the final track
1. Is it just my equipment or is this a feature of this CD?
2. Is there ten minutes worth of zeros on the CD or is it done by programming?
3. What is the bloody point It's really irritating waiting for the ten minutes to pass before the last track, or taking your eyes off the road to fast forward through it. I can't 'goto' next track because its the end of the CD It's not like a DVD easter egg is it? The hi-fi player shows that there's another track to come.
Big thumbs down from me.</rant>

If her records were banned (for impersonating fog horns from around the world), which they should be - then you'd never have found the hidden track...

A track not listed on the case. Sometimes when you put the CD in the player it correctly identifies the real number of tracks - say 11 rather than the 10 listed - but more commonly it's actually added to the last track, with several minutes of silence between the two songs. It goes back a while: "Nevermind" has a secret track. It means you need to leave the CD ontil it shows it has finished playing.
Just to be even more confusing, the secret track on Cheryl Crow's "The Globe Sessions" is actually after the second-last track, but usually it's at the very end.

Or very similar - 'Second Coming' by the Stone Roses has 99 or so tracks - most of them blank

you can also have "hidden tracks" prior to the 1st track
Play track1 and rewind
There's one on a well known album I've done, where the band's tour manager fell asleep on the couch in the studio - I taped it, put a lullaby behind it and we put it on the album
I put it on the end though - just easier!!

Bloody Easter Eggs!!!!!!
They are all well and good, having 'hidden' tracks on CD's and DVD's, but a ncouple of things annoy me:
firstly - who the hell finds these things? is there an army of geeks out there, playing track 6 four times followed bu up, downup, down.....FFS
secondly - the easter egg thing only works WHEN PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT!!! so if you do insist on putting easter eggs on a CD/DVD, provide folks with the onfo on how to access it!!!!

The space inbetween the songs is still audio taking the albums to 80 mins, thus too big to fit on 74 min (650mb) CDRs.
If you open the audio files in a wave editor you can see the silence in the tracks.

No, they are exactly what they appear to be: Easter Eggs. The long silence is just there to help keep it a secret.

Dunno which one, but there's a Blobby Williams album that has loads of silence at the end, followed by something like 'No, I'm not doing another one of those...'
