Job change should i??
Just had my appraisal this week,
went ok, on track and no undue issues. so not looking to change jobs at all.
on weds i had a call from an coleague who left last year, and had mentioned to one of the bosses in the company that i was worth giving a call.
out of curiosity ?? i called the guy and went to see him today for a chat !!!
2 hours later i came out, after being told they would like to do a formal interview, HR, manufacturing director etc..
now the thing is.. the job i,m in has QS2000 Iso 14001 and TS accreditation,
the work is (touchwood) stable and i have the chance in the next 2 months to run a major product launch and get a new team running..
the company i went to today, has nothing..
the manager i saw today has been tasked to implement ISO 9000-2000 within 18 month,s and to bring the shopfloor up to date with regards to quality, housekeeping - 5S etc ,,,
Salary is likly to be considerably better than what i,m on now, but..
do i go from a stable but routine high pressure long hours environment, to a less high pressure / less hours but starting from square one.. position..
the two companys are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum so very little carry over of stuff.
from my point of view its a big challange, but i want to have a go...
am i letting my ego get the better of me, or do i go with the challange and get a major boost to the CV

Basically comes down to whether you are a risktaker and like the challenge of change.
Only you know this, although I tend to think in these situations "gut instinct" is a good guide.
Btw, it seemed odd to me that the possible new job would be fewer hours, if it will involve setting up new systems etc.

i like the challange of a change, risks ... well
one of the possible kickers is the role i am in is dependant on the customers 7 the rest of group.. if they move to outsource, which they are allready starting to do...
do i jump, or wait to be pushed??

You imply your current position may not be too secure now so that's another thing to bring into consideration.
80s into 21st century, again without knowing more and imo, from observation, instituting change can be a hard slog where people are involved.
Thing is and as others have said it's got to be your call.

In balance if the salary is as good as they state its well worth a punt..

You sound like you have already convinced yourself and just want someone else to tell you that you are right, hence bringing up the likelihood of redundancy once the thread wasn't going in that direction.
Have some ***** and just do it mate, unless you want to spend the next 10 years gradually chipping away at the corporate ladder with a blunt plastic chisel. The only way to advance your career these days is to jump ship.
Then buy us all new scoobs with your extra cash as a thank you for making you make this desicion.
