Default Speeding Question..

Pretty sure ive just been pulled speeding by a mobile camera unit. Doing about 38-40 in a 30, naughty i know.

However, just spoke to my Dad who seems to think that if i've been pulled the camera would have to have flashed and im pretty sure it didnt. Can anyone confirm if this is true? If it isnt i dont suppose there is any other sneaky loopholes i can use to get away with it, as its going to **** my renewal up good and proper..

Oh by the way, its in Nottingham on the road that runs between The Open University with the Hyson Green playing fields on the left and The Park and Ride at the end.

B@rstards!

Matt.

Sorry but if the mobile camera unit was there and you were doing that sort of speed then the likelyhood is that you have been caught.
Just pray that hopefully you were lucky this time and somehow you have gotten away with it.

It was a van parked between other parked cars, with a guy and a camera poking out the back doors.

Yeh, i think i am screwed to be honest. Especially as he looked at me when i drove past when i noticed him.

Only thing im now thinking is that i drove past the same spot maybe 2-3 minutes before and he wasnt there so hopefully they take some time so set-up, but im expecting the worst.

Only thing to do now is to try and find someone generous enough in my family to take them for me.

Going slightly off topic (whilst im still bitter), less than 200 yards away from where this van was today, someone was SHOT last night. Did i see any extra coppers on the beat this morning whilst driving through? Did i ****!!

Ye could still be setting up no idea how long it takes though. On the renewal issue have you already got points? I got three 2 years ago and the price went up by about £70 i think, nothing too horrendous.

No i havent already got points but im only 20 driving an group 14 car so the discriminating b@stards will be rubbing their hands together with glee when i try to renew with a claim (admitttedly a non-fault one) and 3 points.

Not looking forward to this now at all...

No need for anything to flash, they can catch you without you realising these days.

W**kers.
38 in a 40 is very harsh - that's just your cynical Labour government policy - booking you in case you thought of going fast perhaps??

The non fault claim's should'nt affect you (i had two in 6 month's), and most insurance company's won't sting you for one fixed penalty for speeding, if your lucky it won't make any difference at all, good luck!

Elephant do, £25 extra with 6 months left to run on my policy for 3 points. Effectively, even though I am no good at maths problems, I can say that that is equal to a £50 rise in my premium.

What with my premium doubling last year because some ****** nicked my car, I am to be truly shafted by Elephant this year come renewal time.

May be due for a change

Elephant was going to be who i intended to go with as i couldnt find anybody cheaper and my current insurers are sh*te.

I entered my details and with a non-fault claim and 3 points it goes up almost £400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't discount speedo error. An indicated 38 might be as low as a real 33, and that sort of speed you might get away with (This is all very "might" rather than certain). I passed a scamera van at an indicated 78ish in a 70 a few months back (didn't see him until too late because of lorry in inside lane), and got away with that one. Most people who get nicked for doing 38 will probably have an indicated 40+ on the speedo
