No, and even if you did the networks may sniff it out.
There was a time at which you could clone some GSM cards but the technology has been updated since.

Tiggs, doesn't help you in the UK but I lost my phone with SIM here in Portugal, walked into the [O2-equivalent] shop and told them, and walked out again 5 mins later with a new SIM, same number, for free. Done it with son's phone as well.
Perhaps the difference is that they cancelled the old one at the same time - you don't want that.

With a lost SIM they should immediately bar it. That's why the can then issue a new one. If they just left the other open, then the ****** would have free calls.
Tiggs,
Seems a very obvious and real reason, but its wide open to being abused and I can see why the networks would simply say no to it - simplest way of preventing crimes.

Each phone number (well, account) has the SIM number associated with it, so the provider knows which sim card to connect to. To swap SIM's you just change the SIM number on the account.
To answer TIGG's question, it's extemely illegal but have a look here: http://members.lycos.co.uk/gsmlive2003/

My better half has got 2 sims with the same account. She just told them the old one was getting worn and needed jiggling sometimes. They sent out a replacement free and both work still.
Try it out. Nothing to lose.

It is physically possible...but the networks won't let you.
Had a few customers who had Bentleys and Aston Martins (car phone fitted as standard) ask me this. The only way round it at the time was to setup the lesser used phone (the car phone in this case) with another SIM on a different phone number and set up call divert on the mobile, so it would send the calls to the car phone.
I'm sure there is a way, all you need to do is make an exact replica of your current SIM card. I knew it was possible at one time to emulate a SIM using a PIC microcontroller, some open source code (well, only within confined circles ). Usually this trick was used for pirate satelite. But obviously on a phone it would mean you would have to hack it about and solder in various bits for it to work.

Vodafone have offered this service for years at £6/month.
I can't see it not being the case now except it might be a little dearer.

I see it's now £7 + VAT/month.
