How come so many of these are on ebay? Blatant scams, waiting for a sucker.....but ebay claims to take security/fraud seriously, yet seems happy to let this kind of crap go on...

How do you report an ad to ebay?

Amazing isnt it.

I buy, sell and look at the watch sections.

I would say 70%, or more watches advertised are fake.

With no warning from the vendor or E-bay itself.

Caveat Emptor

Why don't people pay more attention to what they're bidding on IMO greedy people who think they're getting a bargain at someone else expense deserve to get conned

I know it's only a BMW, but whats wrong with them 'trying' for £5000??

If they can find some mug to pay that then whats it got to do with us????

Pete

Oooops, edited to say its £6000! ....... but, still, there 'might' be a mug out there somewhere??? We here would rather buy a MY99 Impreza .... but we are smarter than the average BMW wannabbeee

It may be obvious but unless someone has sent their money and not received an M3 in return then you can't do anything.

Where's the scam, apart from the fact it's obviously too cheap?

No "Western Union Money Transfer". No address in mainland Africa. Decent feedback

Just click on the buy it now and ask them where the car is - they then get hit with a good few quid final value fee.

You'd have to be a 100% mug to pay for any vehicle upfront without seeing it and checking it out.

Obviously, but I still don't get it:
1) The item location is listed as "Leeds, UK"
2) Surely the seller gets hit with the final value fee, not the buyer?

Yes, seller has to pay a % of whatever it sells for on top of the £6+ listing fee. The only risk of hitting the buy it now button is receiving a neg from the seller - but they also run that risk.

You can put any location you like on your listing.

Not the best thought out scam IMO.

The offer ends on 30th February!!! Ha Ha Ha ..... BRILLIANT!!

Come on, its chavs and idiots that are getting taken in, who gives a ****??

There are those who give their money like babies and others who do the taking - both are greedy, one gets rich!!

Tell him you have funds for the car and can pay him £10k, but the funds are tied up in Nigeria....and the rest is history repeating itself!

Simple and you can get him to feel really guilty too!!

Tell him you want the car and the cheque will be posted tomorrow - you must, however, get his assurance that he will NOT sell to anyone else ..... then get someone else to enquire and offer to buy.

You tell him you have done an internet HPi search and it has shown that another party is interested - he is therefore a liar and you will therefore not be interested ...... the next e-mailer stretches him along in the same way, then the next and next and next
