A website has stolen from me, what do I do?
This is the score. A certain website has stolen images from my houseparties and put them up on their website and claimed copyright.
I'm not interested in money, I just want them to take them down, however, repeated requests in the form of emails have been ignored.
any advice on what I can do? They have put them up there to laugh at them and I'm not happy about the comments that are being assocaited with my houseparty yet I am a little in the dark about what I can do.
Any suggestions, legal or otherwise would be very welcome. Primarily to do with forcing them to take the images down if possible.
Many thanks in advance,
astraboy.

Talk to their ISP - tell them the website is breaking copyright. Might be worth a try. Should be able to find out the ISP, by tracing the IP address.

It's not 100% clear from your post: are they photos that you have personally taken, or are they pictures of an event you're involved with but actually taken by someone else?

photos taken by someone else, of an event I run and have worked hard to promote and dont want associated with this site.
I also know the photographer and he has not given his permission either.
The ISP trace sounds like a good idea though, how do I go about it?

Whoever has copyright should then pursue the website (as you are already doing), and also contact their ISP as Chris mentioned. You should be able to do a search on, eg Easyspace.com/co.uk to see who owns the website, and where it's hosted.
Once this is established, plead copyright and threaten legal action against the website owners AND the ISP. Give them a 'reasonable' time to remove the images, and don't hesitate to carry out your threat.
Indicate that you will also hold them responsible for your costs and any damage to reputation you may suffer as a result of the unauthorised use....

I've posted on their public forum giving them 48 hours to take them down.
All the ***** are ripping into me for it, but I dont care, at least he's pretty much guaranteed to see it so I will see what happens. If he doesnt then is ISP time
astraboy.
