Iraqi Elections
I have to say that a have full admiration for the high turnout of voters in Iraq. It is true that the threat to life in the Kurdish region and also in the Shia region was not as great in the Sunni triangle and the turnout in Bahgdad was understandably pretty low.
It was nevertheless a bit risky and I believe they deserve respect for that.

I don't know about high turnout, I've yet to see any figures. In the Sunni areas there were just empty boxes, even the poll officials didn't dare turn up.
Good luck to the Iraqis, voting might give them a psychological boost but when they still don't have clean water and electricity the other side of the election I'm not sure anything is going to change.

Yeah, pretty appropriate I thought
It's just a complete joke that the USA are attempting to implement democracy in Iraq when they don't even have it in their own country.
