Pills 'n' Thrills is ok but surely the best Madchester band was the Stone Roses?

Agree with that Simon, the roses were my personal favourites, but Pills Thrills and Bellyaches is a great album, and well worth a space in your CD Changer on a long journey.

Think I just listened to the Roses too much when I was a student.. don't come back to them as much as the Mondays.

Not a Manchester band but does anyone remember a group called Ride? (Oxford-based shoegazers) A girlie pal of mine has just started dating the lead singer.

pills n thrills is a great album, still listen to it and all the stone roses stuff.i saw the mondays in 1993 in newport,Bez had a broken collar bone but was still bouncing around the stage, top bloke.
that gig was so loud .i think that my hearing was permantly damaged.
ive got great memories of those days,i was an apprentice and just passed my driving test ,life was a lot less complicated.

I was/still am a huge fan of Ride. Got all their albums and their 4 first EP's. Saw them live 3 times including the 'Daytripper' tour with The Charlatans when they played Blackpool

I was 16 in 1990. The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays etc bring back so many memories of a brilliant period of my life

Forgot I had that album.

Ride too, forgot all about them!

Then again I forget what I've had for breakfast half the time

Roses

Stone Roses-Stone Roses, sublime still as magnificent today as it ever was.

Charlatans still doing it, Some Friendly another classic of that era, Manchester, for me, is the City where the best music and some of the best bands have comes from, Doves new album out soon

Funnily enough, I was looking through my CD collection and found PnT&Bs - realised that I hadn't heard it for ages, so I ripped it onto the PC. This was the night before Celebrity BB started! Spooky
