Anyone on here been to Penrith?
Going with my Aussie g/f (also from penrith, hence the visit) but having trouble finding any information about the place.
Anyone know any hotels/restaurants/touristy bits?
Cheers in advance,
astraboy.

its full of mad farmers who like to fight each other well it was when i last went out there with a lass i was seeing though that was about 10 years ago lol. the only hotel that i can think of is the north lakes which you'll see as you come off the motorway. i would imagine that accomadation will be quite expencive being the lake district. don't think you'll think much of the night life astraboy as i don't think raving has got to peerith as the local pronounce it if your after a night out clubing your better off in carlisle though thats not anything to shout about, its only 20 miles from penrith but again you might struggle to get ANY accomadation at the mo because of all the flood victums

Only a few miles from Ullswater and a few more from Windemere. Often there myself due to Grandparents.
Not a bad corner of the world but no a great deal to report

I stayed at the Troutbeck Inn along the road between Penrith and Keswick (not the Troutbeck near Windermere).
It's got reasonable B&B type rooms but had excellent meals in the evenings. Also a good food pub on the same road about half way on a small slip road on the north side, called White Swan or White Horse IIRC
Never went in to Penrith though.
