I had something posted out on Wednesday first class and it arrived today

I received an Xmas card franked in Tyne and Wear on Wednesday at 7:15pm delivered Thursday morning. That was second class as well.

Typically first class is taking 2 days at the moment. I received something that was posted Wednesday today too

Airline won't re-issue tickets until 2 days before departure......tried explaining that I leave on boxing day so therefore I'm not supposed to contact you until Christmas eve !!

Add into that the fact that they have suddenyl started leaving recorded/signed for mail on the doorstep with no signature, and you have a fantastic postal service.

I had a parcel from Canada hit Mount Pleasant sorting office on the 7th December. I was asked to collect it from my local PO on the 16.

The post is very erratic at the mo, some things I've expect to be delayed haven't been. There is a lot of pressure on the PO and IIRC they have reduced the amount of employees.
