Question MP3 Player / iPod thingies question?

I did a search to see if i could find the info. but i couldn't

Anyway, my 15 year old wants an MP3 player or iPod thingy for Christmas. I assume these things are the new "walkman" type thing and its just a case of downloading mp3 format songs from the pc (by whichever debauched manner you see fit)

With Christmas coming there must be some good deals out there but i need advice on which one (sub £200.00) would be a good one

Information on things like ease of use and memory size etc etc

Sorry to be a PITA but i couldn't find any up to date info on SN

Amazon clicky, the buyer's reviews are normally a good indication of what you get for your money!

Hen's teeth yes :0 A couple of weeks ago the Apple site had them but expensive and I don't know where they were shipped from. There are some on e-bay but mostly shipped from US and I would think twice about that. David

OK, my 15 year old one just got one for his birthday which was in August.............he took this long to decide which one.

His main concern was that it had to be SMALL, but have enough memory to hold 300+ songs.

Dixons/Currys are selling a tiny, (50 x 30 x 10mm) silver Packard Bell one at the mo with 1Gb memory, for £129............it was £229 6 months ago

That's what he went for and he loves it. It's tiny, light, solidly made, sounds superb, easy to use, and easy to downlaod to, and has a lovely bright screen. It's like a piece of jewellery. I'm tempted myself!

Have a look while they still have some left. They also do a 512Mb for £99, and a 256 or 128 for £79. The one you want is silver finish.

Buzzer: it's called a Packard Bell Audio Dream 1Gb.

AFAIK 1Gb is the biggest memory, but it says 320 songs, so should be enough.

The Dixons site has photos etc, and says temporarily out of stock. At that price it'll go quickly, so I'd get to a Currys/Dixons if you want one.
