Pesky kids *cough

DVDDecrypter followed by DVD2one or DVDShrink if youre using 4.5gig discs.

Yeah kids got no respect for anything

Done a search for DVDDecrypter downloaded the DVD43 on the fly decryptor, along with the Patin Couffin driver (that supposed to work with Pinncle DVD copier, but guess what..... It's still not working.

Anyone got any ideas why?

Thanks Phill

what copier are you using?

how big is the disk you are trying to back up? if you select Read mode under ISO in DVDdecrypter, how many layers is this disk?

It should be v. easy...

I'm using a Samsung TS-H552B 16x Double Layer DVD R/RW dvd writer.

The disk is less than 4.7 Gb. I'm not using DVDdecrypter, but will load it up once the current backup has finished. As far as I can see the disk I'm trying to backup is single layer.

I'll let you know

As above, DVD Shrink does it all, decrypts, compresses to 4.7Gb (single layer) and burns if you have Nero installed. If not you have the image on your hard-disk ready to burn with whatever software you have.

You can also throw away the sound tracks you don't want with shrink to give more space / less compression to the video. I usually get rid of all of them except the English Dobly 5.1 or pereferably DTS track. Be warned though, best to keep subtitles, sometimes they are switched on and off if its a film with short bits of foreign lingo in it, I learnt this to my cost when backing up Hidalgo.

Managed to decrypt and copy the dvd to Hard disk (with DVD Shrink) but having a right problem copying back to dvd again. Got 2 coasters already and I've only tried twice. Think I'll just get Nero 6, as this Pinnicle Instant copy is rubbish!!

Thanks for all the sounds advice. Like the Idea of stripping unwanted subtitles and audio, to save space. Hebrew, I ask you.

Thanks for all the sound advice.

Use Dvd xcopy xpress/platinum software.

This program is similar to nero.......ist dead easy to use.

You dont have to mess about with decrypting stuff yourself...it does it all for you.

All you have to do is put the dvd in, it asks you if the movie is a rental....to whick you reply no, and then press copy on the display panel.

About 15 mins later you have a like for like copy of you encrypted movie.

It will shrink down movies, will put on 2 discs etc without you having to do a thing......its bloody fantastic

The software was banned in early 2004 because the software could be bought in the shops and contained a decrypter which would bypass any encryption put on a dvd. You may be able to get a copy off the web but make sure you get the Proper 2003 software with decrypter included, as the company who made the program (321 studios) was told buy the courts that they couldnt sell the software withe the decrypter anymore!

I bought a copy from 321 studios just b4 it was banned, and i think they may have run out of the stock they had left once it was banned.

Dont try to download it from the likes of astalavista because nearly all programs you download from site like this is full of virus, malware etc

If you cant get it for any reason anywhere else on the net email me and i will email you the full install file.

May al;so depend on the DVD's and the quality of the dyes used. If you have used them before with no problems then I suggest looking at using nero but if new then http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php may help

Ok here goes....... use 1click dvd copy, you can download a trial version at www.download.com then run dvd43 www.dvd43.com (do a google) just before you start the program, dvd43 will mask the copyright protection thats built in allowing the fast safe copy of *any* commercial dvd onto a 4.7gb disk, all you do is click copy and its as simple as that!!
