Don't really see why. It's just the media kicking up a stink over nothing, (they haven't had a go for a while, so they probably though they ought to moan about something).

It's no worse than re-enacting WW2 or Vietnam in numerous fps games, or building up a healthy death toll in GTA or even watching the numerous reconstructions of the assasination on the Discovery Channel IMHO....

can't imaginie a similar game based on the Yorkshire Ripper, Michael Ryan or the Columbine kids would go down very well!

Why?

There are still veterans alive from WW2, Vietnam, Gulf war etc who had family (brother, sisters, parents etc) murdered. If you follow that reasoning you should kick up a stink and ban all games that deal with those subjects as well.

I'm not saying it's right, and it's very likely a naff game anyway (they usually are), but it's really not worth the fuss that's being made about it when there are far worse things happening which the media decides to ignore...

The game is in slightly bad taste, however, as said by others, there are games about other major wars and no-one kicks up a stink. Matter of fact, I have a friend who is a vietnam vet and he does enjoy playing some of the Nam games out there (Nam 69 sounds familiar, but I'm not sure about the name) and, in his words "giving it back to the gooks". Not exactly PC, but then you have to remember he was drafted and sent out to kill for his country and watched a lot of his friends die.

I find it interesting that people don't complain about blowing away Arab guys in things like Counter Strike and so on but as soon as someone does something it's a big problem ...

I'm sure somone could/would/has come up with a mod for the Source engine (CS, HL2, if I'm not mistaken) that would allow you to go round killing Bush and or Blair. I'm sure that'd sell millions.

WW2 games are generic, they dont deal with a particular persons death.

In GTA you could run over kids and murder the......would you play a dunblane game where you could go and shoot kids?
