U/J,s when do they let go??
I am thinking of using universal joints for a project of mine, but have been advised that they are inherantly unstable above certain rpms
anyone heard this and if so what rpm becomes dangerous..
i want to spin them up to about 8500

Depends what UJ's they are, and what angle you work them through. There are equations you can use to work out what RPM rotating shafts will fail. The manufacturers of the UJ's will tell you the safe RPM limit.
